A different kind of therapy experience.

Renee Williams, MA

LMFT, LPCC, SEP & Trauma Therapist

This is a place where compassion and cutting-edge meet.

You’ve tried traditional talk therapy and learned some helpful things, but now you’re looking for something different—something that goes deeper and results in long-lasting change.

My clients come to me seeking a therapist who isn’t going to make them “rehash” the past or revisit every detail of what they’ve experienced. They want support that will help them address the roots of the challenges they’re facing while at the same time equipping them to make forward progress in their life.

My training in Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) allows us to draw from a toolbox of strategies that can help you tap into your own body’s ability to heal itself.

What it’s like to work with me

In our work together, YOU are the expert on YOU.

I view my job as a therapist as becoming an active participant in your growth & healing. That means meeting you where you’re at—never pushing you to a place where you aren’t ready or directing us somewhere that doesn’t feel aligned with your goals.

Sometimes we’ll need to sit in the hard stuff together: the difficult emotions, experiences, and questions you haven’t felt safe to share elsewhere. I won’t shy away from this or offer empty platitudes. The heavy, the unsaid, the never-shared-before…it’s all welcome here.

Other times we’ll challenge deep-rooted beliefs or stories you’ve been telling yourself, work on re-processing past experiences, or learn how to better tune into your body and what it’s telling you. Every step we take will be guided by your goals for healing, progress, and growth.

I work well with clients who:

  • Tend to “give” more than they “get” in relationships

  • Feel ready to start making their own wellbeing a priority

  • Are motivated to create change and willing to do the work to get there

  • Want to understand themselves on a deeper level

My Methods

Brainspotting

In brainspotting, we can access the areas of your brain where trauma and emotional pain are stored. Once accessed, we can work on coping strategies to address these things and ultimately release them from both your brain and body. This form of therapy often has rapid and long-lasting results.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an long-standing evidence-based method that bridges both sides of your brain to reprocess and restore painful memories and other experiences. It helps form new neural pathways that lead to more ease and peace of mind.

Somatic Experiencing

Research shows us trauma, painful experiences, and other challenges are stored in the body. If you’ve felt like you did everything “right” in traditional therapy but did not experience the change you wanted, Somatic Experiencing can help cultivate a new level of body awareness that creates change on a cellular level.
